Here are three kits for you kiddies so you can have the coolest Jack-O-Lantern on the block. The days of triangle eyes and gapped tooth smiles are over.
The first one is your standard beginners. The kit comes with ten traditional stencils and a starter tool kit. Let me just add, the knife with this kit is flimsy at best. I broke mine just three pumpkins in.
Cost: $5
Cost: $5
The next one is for are you Marvel Marvelers out there (EXCELSIOR!)
This kit comes with the same basic tool set-up as the above package, but the stencils feature some of Marvel's super heroes. If you ever wanted to see Tony Stark light up your gourd then you've come to the right place. The downside: No Spidey stencil. Can't the web slinger get a little Halloween love?
Cost: $6
Cost: $6
Last up we have less of a carving kit and more of a novelty pumpkin decoration toy. The good folks at Hasbro are still finding ways to reinvent their classic 1950's spud bud.
This one is great for all the kiddies that are still too little to handle the carving knife. Cost: $13
If you're looking to take your carving to the next level, thinking about picking up one of these professional carving kits. The price might seem a little steep, and it takes a little more skill, but can you really complain about carving pumpkins? The costs on these vary, but the pumpkins start to get really good. Try using sculpting tools. The next step is to make your own stencils.
This one my brother Joe did of our niece Katie.
Send in your best Jack-O-Lantern and I'll post the best ones.
