I was planning on waiting to do a whole week of Halloween reviews, but I just couldn't help myself. Over the weekend I took a trip down to Didier Farms in Prairie View to pick up my first patch of soon to be Jack-O-Lanterns, and to check out the festivities at the annual Pumpkinfest.
The family owned farm will be open through the end of the month and also include
- Corn Mazwe
- Carnival Rides
- Food stand (Great corn dogs!)
- Petting Zoo
- Farmstand
There's plenty to see, and a great place to bring a small child, or a large one.
Pumpkin pickings may be scrimp, little kids have a knack for waking up early, and while yes the pumpkins are more expensive than at most places ( $.50/lbs.), but there is more to pumpkin fest than just pumpkins. It's worth the trip if you take your Autumn activities serious.
Be sure to check back when I review some pumpkin carving kits.
