First up we have the square patties from Wendy's. Dave Thomas franchise has been in the value menu the longest, and one of it's staples is the Double Stack.
The Good: I have to admit the cheese, for some reason, tasted better than all the other competitors. It was the most flavorful, best melted, and tasted the most like real cheese. Not to mention, it only cost $.99, not like those other two fat cats.
The Bad: For having one of the most famous campaigns in fast food history, this burger is surprisingly not very meaty.
The Good the 1/4 lbs. is a very hearty burger for just a buck. Not to mention, BK is the only ones to put mustard on their burger.
The Bad: The sandwich itself tasted a little dry. A little mayo, or some more ketchup would have helped.
Last we have the name in the drive-thru game. The Mcdouble quietly replaced the Double Cheeseburger on the McDonald's dollar menu.
The Good: The diced onions are nice change from the onion rings the other competirors support. On top of that, the pickle slices were the best out of the group.
The Bad: One word: Greasy. The puddles of grease drippings on the wrapper really make you feel bad about eating anything that doesn't come Whole Foods.
The winner: I'm going to have to give this one to Burger King. While it might be far from a gourmet burger, but it is the best overall out of the three, and for a buck, it will fill you up for a quick lunch. All I know is, after this post, I need either a nap or go for a run.
Total Calories: 1,260
Total Fat: 66 grams
I think I'll opt for two runs.
On the plus side, I did find a bonus fry in the McDonald's bag.
